It’s common to hear about the properties of semen in popular culture, but most claims to this effect are more urban legend than scientific reality. While some claim that semen is rich in proteins and vitamins, and can contribute to emotional balance and even skin health, it’s important to remember that these claims often lack solid scientific evidence.
It’s also important to note that, just as you shouldn’t force your partner to taste your semen if you’re not prepared to taste it yourself, you shouldn’t regard semen as a universal panacea and consume it indiscriminately. As with any other food or product, it’s important to exercise caution and moderation.
Men often enjoy discussing their semen and even try to convince their partner to taste it, but when it comes to discovering all the virtues they attribute to it, they are often less enthusiastic…
It’s worth remembering, however, that we shouldn’t demand of others what we ourselves are not prepared to assume and guarantee!
That said, sperm is often associated with miraculous properties which, after serious study, are more urban legend than scientific reality. Here’s our selection:
Well, gentlemen, you can’t expect others to do what you can’t do yourself!
That being said, sperm is said to have miraculous properties which, after serious study, are more urban legend than scientific reality. Here’s our best of:
1) Sperm is good for the skin. No scientific study can prove such a claim. Although semen contains vitamins C and B12, which promote collagen stimulation, the amount in a normal ejaculation is so small that you’d have to take a semen bath every day to make any difference. As a result, beauty creams remain the preferred choice.
2) Sperm is a natural antidepressant. Sperm contains melatonin and serotonin, two hormones that regulate mood and provide a feeling of well-being. Some even claim that the effects of semen are as beneficial as eating dark chocolate. But ask yourself how much sperm you’d need to swallow to consume the equivalent of 30gr of chocolate, the amount recommended every day to have a real impact on your health? Well, we’re guessing you’d rather stick with the chocolate habit.
3) Sperm contains important nutritional values. In addition to vitamins C and B12, semen also contains magnesium and potassium. Again, a normal ejaculation contains such a small amount of all these elements that it’s almost ridiculous to even mention them. Unless you’re in a profession that allows for massive semen ingestion, it’s best to keep shopping every day.
4) You can be allergic to sperm. Indeed, some people may turn out to be allergic to one person’s sperm. This does not mean that another partner’s sperm will automatically cause an allergic reaction. Sperm varies in composition from man to man, and the person consuming it will react differently depending on the donor.
5) Sperm makes you fat/lose weight. In either case, sperm has no effect on the weight of the person consuming it. These legends are often fuelled on the one hand by sperm detractors, and on the other by “Please, I’d like you to swallow it, it makes you lose weight…” enthusiasts.
6) Sperm is a hair booster. The spermidine contained in semen is said to help restore hair follicles and fuel hair regrowth. However, the amount of sperm needed on a regular basis to maintain your hair would be inordinate. Unless you have a harem of donors or are the lucky recipient of daily hair bukkake…
7) Sperm reduces the risk of breast cancer. False. The bogus study that put forward this enormity was in fact the invention of one Brandon Williamson, an American student in search of fame.
8) Sperm can be cooked in any number of ways. Apart from the fact that its gustatory qualities are uninteresting, you have to consider that semen remains a vector for sexually transmitted infections. Hepatitis B and AIDS could end up on the menu. So it’s up to you to decide whether the risk is worth the risk!
